Mandated School Lunch? What is your Take?

Ok I have been under the whether yet I really wanted to get everyone's opinion while this topic is hot.  This was written yesterday, so I apologize for being late in posting.

What is Double Whammy Wednesday. It is a day of a double dipping into the mindset of Dani Johnson. Well who is she and why would anyone care about her mindset, let alone, who would want to dip twice into her mind. I could fill this blog up trying to truly explain the phenomenal woman she is. In short, she is a woman that went from homeless to millionaire in two short years, by the age 23. In addition, she has instructed hundreds of thousand of people throughout the world on how to make millions of dollars. Her unique strategies helps people to become debt-free, make more money in less time, get more done in less time, improve relationships, create healthy family dynamics, and to attain this success without sacrificing family, fun, health or God. Yes I said God, all her teachings are biblical which is what really attracted me to her teachings. I would advise you to head over to her website, but more on Dani later. What I have been trying to get to since yesterday morning's radio broadcast is the topic Dani talked about on the First Lady Michelle Obama initiative on changing and actually mandating the nutrition in the schools. This is in response to the obesity epidemic that we have going on here in America.

OK I know this a political discussion, but given that this is America and we have free speech, let's be respectful of each others opinion. That being said lets talk about this. What are your thoughts, should the government be in charge of determining what are children should eat?  Will this really fix the childhood obesity epidemic?I don't think the problem  will be fixed with changing what students eat for lunch.  No way is that singular meal of the day the reason behind such obesity.  The reason is from all the other meals or should I say, all the other junk that goes in that child's mouth away from school.  When it comes to children, except for those that have an medical illness, obesity is the result of too little healthy foods and/or too little exercise   Children can only eat what is around them  what is in the refrigerator or the cabinets   So if there is only healthy foods and snacks and there is timed meals when a kid gets hungry they will eat what is there.  Then there can't/won't be a weight problem.  Children are left alone too often these days with no adult guidance and when bored, first thing they will do is put something in their mouth.  Looking for something to entertain them, but instead turning to food.  this will also lead to adult obesity as well, due to bad habits developed as a child.  As you can see this is multi-factorial   I therefore feel the answer will be just as complicated, and not solved with this mandate of altering the students lunch. Just take a look at the comments posted on the you tube site. I would live to hear what you have to say.  Please let me know how you feel about this subject.
Next week I'll have our Double Whammy Wednesday,

Carolyn
